Shakespeare Oil Company, Inc. is a family-owned, independent company engaging in drilling, exploration, and purchase of oil and gas properties.  Founded in 1950, Shakespeare has worked hard to establish our company as a well-respected partner in the industry.  We currently operate nearly 450 oil and gas wells in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, and Montana.  Our staff continues to find new opportunities for our company.

In November 2003, Shakespeare completed our first producing well in Logan County, Kansas.  We have since engaged in a multi-year exploration program that continues today.  As of May 2014, Shakespeare's efforts in western Kansas have resulted in the discovery of 26 new oil fields.  Shakespeare’s partnerships with other Kansas operators have resulted in the discovery of an additional 25 new fields.

With improving technology, including 3-D seismic, horizontal, and fracturing technology to improve the drilling odds, we look forward to more rapid growth in the future.
