The Tertiary Oil Recovery Program (TORP) at the University of Kansas researches ways to improve oil and gas recovery in Kansas and the Midcontinent region. Established in 1974, the program evaluates improved hydrocarbon recovery methods and provides laboratory and field services to regional operators. TORP also investigates other subsurface energy opportunities, including natural hydrogen, carbon capture, utilization and storage, enhanced geothermal systems, and critical minerals.
