Kansas Oil Museum

Company Description

The Kansas Oil Museum is the one of the largest museums in the state with a focus on the history of America's early 20th-century oil industry. We also preserve and interpret the history of Butler County, Kansas, from the earliest days of the Native American tribes and the pioneers, to small-town and ranch life of the 1900s.

In addition to curating both permanent and seasonal exhibits, we function as the Historical Society of Butler County, with a large research library and extensive archival and photographic collections.

Lastly, we have a new Energy Education Center (EEC) that is an indoor event center equipped with exhibit showcases, tables, seating, a stage, technology for presentations, a kitchen with a service window, and a 14ft access door for special equipment. The new facility is wonderful for training, presentations and meetings. We offer banquet style arrangements for over 250 persons and lecture style arrangements for 400 people. This building will allow for interactive STEM activities that look to the future while honoring the Museum’s mission to preserve the history of the oil industry.
